My Bio
Bilal
U of A
Hello everyone, my name is Bilal and I'm currently a first year medical student at UofA (Class of 2029). Briefly, my journey getting into medical school is as follows: 4 year BSc in Psychology at the UofA (graduated 2023) --> applied to three medical schools (UofA, UofC, UBC) after my 4th year (2023) --> interviewed at UofA and UofC --> rejected from both --> applied to the same three schools the next year (2024) --> interviewed at UofA and UofC again --> accepted to UofA (2025).
I wrote the MCAT once in 2022 and scored a 513, and scored 4th quartile in Casper during both application cycles. I also scored a 4th quartile on NAQ for UBC, but unfortunately just barely fell short of the out-of-province interview cutoff. In my two "gap" years leading up to admission, I worked as a full-time Addictions Counselor with AHS, and did part-time paid research at the UofA.
After interviewing twice at UofA and UofC, and improving drastically between my first and second cycle, I'm quite experienced in the application and interview process for both of these schools. All in all, I'm most comfortable providing all-around mentoring (application review, MMI interview, tips/tricks) for UofA, UofC, and even UBC.
